Microscopy Workshop
November 23-25, 2009
Lafayette, Lousiana — prior to the NAMA annual foray
Print the Registration form to find enrollment information for this workshop. CLASS ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED TO 24.
NAMA is offering an unusual opportunity for members who wish to move to a more scientific dimension through microscopy. Discovering the special features of fungi that can only be seen with magnification is both exciting and straightforward. It is the only easy way to separate some families from one another and can settle many otherwise puzzling dilemmas. In addition, it’s fun. Even lacking a microscope at home should not limit anyone from approaching and understanding what’s going on inside the fungal world.

Drs. Andy Methven and Walt Sundberg have generously agreed to introduce the basic skills needed to utilize a microscope. Not only will the what for's and how to’s be covered but members will enjoy hands-on experience with a variety of mushrooms and other fungi. Having these two wonderful teachers is a plus in itself.
As an aspect of NAMA’s educational commitment, the only cost to those interested in this study is that of room and board at the same rate as is charged for the foray. The workshop runs from Monday morning through Wednesday with the option to continue Thursday morning (November 26). That includes four nights and 12 meals (from Sunday supper through Thursday lunch at $400, double occupancy. There is an additional charge for a single room of $156. Microscopes and all materials will be provided as well. However, since each person will be receiving individual attention, the number of students must be kept small so early registration is encouraged.
Registration details can be found on the NAMA 2009 Registration form. For more information about the workshop, contact Walt Sundberg by email or Allein Stanley by email.
